List of System Accomplishments

 v      Ranked as one of Tennessee’s elite K-12 school systems using composite student achievement scores

 v   The first school system in the nation to be designated a “Sprint Showcase” for its technology program

 v    Created a Student Representative position to serve on the Board of Education

 v Success indicators (matrix) have been developed to give a panoramic view of student success

 v     Only school system in Tennessee to be awarded Level Two of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence        quality program based upon the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria

 v     Implemented a fiber optic “backbone” for Local- and Wide-area network infrastructure

 v  Established the fourth year-round school in Tennessee

v      State model preschool program implemented by creating a partnership with Head Start

 v      Awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant to begin after school program at Hal Henard Elementary School

 v      Greeneville City Schools Foundation established

 v      Greeneville Middle School and GHS Diversified Technology labs implemented

 v      Partners in Education Program formed

 v      Nationally recognized Character Education Program initiated

 v      Backyard Learning, Family Resource Centers, and after-school programs established to provide after-school academic and social support at all schools

 v      Major additions completed at EastView Elementary, Tusculum View Elementary, Greeneville Middle School and GHS

 v      Implemented a computer-based curriculum delivery and Credit Recovery program

 v      Niswonger Performing Arts Center completed

 v      Implementation of locally developed curriculum documents including benchmarks for performance

 v      GHS schedule revised to incorporate opportunities for teacher collaboration and avenues to provide additional student support services

 v      Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp  (AFJROTC) implemented during 2002-2003 school year

 v      Selected as the site for a state regional Professional Development Center to serve Northeast Tennessee

 v      Elementary foreign language program implemented in all elementary schools

 v School Board named Tennessee School Boards Association “School Board of the Year” in November 2002 in recognition of the school system’s excellence

 v       Greeneville Middle School named 21st Century School of Distinction for Technology Excellence

 v       EastView Elementary named U.S. Dept. of Education Blue Ribbon School

 v      Tusculum View Elementary named a Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence “Lighthouse School”
